Morjim comprises a picturesque portion of Goa's 103 square  metre long shoreline in the North. Festivals celebrated in Morjim

 Morjim is well known for its beautiful beaches and resorts but Morjim is also famous for some of the festivals celebrated in the village. One of the main festival celebrated in Morjim is  'Kalas Utsav' This festival was started by the people of Porab and Gauns family. The people consider the 'kalas' a god and therefore it is called 'Grampurush' means God of Village. This festival is celebrated once in every three, five or seven years. Kalas means an earthern pot and in that water and mango tree leaves has been added. The water from that pot is referred as 'Kartikeya'. On this day Kartikeya god sits on the lap of his mother that is goddess Morjai. And during the separation of god 'Kartikeya' goddess Morjai cries until her nine yards saree gets wet.
